Have community service? Complete a Volunteer Application and email us at Volunteer@unionshelter.org to schedule hours. Do not schedule through the main volunteer calendar.
Individual/Family Volunteering
- Make sure to read over our Volunteering FAQs HERE
- Minimum volunteer age (all volunteers under 18 must have a waiver signed by parent or guardian):
- 10-15 years old must volunteer with a parent/legal guardian.
- 16-17 years old can volunteer solo upon completion of the minor waiver.
- Each family member will need to have a volunteer application completed.
- Only come for volunteer slot you are signed up for. Sign up slots are limited.
- To let us know if you are running late, call the main line at (704) 289-5300, ext 0.

Group Volunteering
- Provide and serve a meal in our feeding program
- No minimum or maximum group size. Recommended maximum is 18 people.
- Click Here for more info, available meals, and to sign up.
- Financially sponsor a meal and shelter staff will plan, purchase, and cook the meal. Your group will show up the day of to serve and clean up.
- Maximum of 12 people, no minimum group size.
- See a list of available meals Here and email Volunteer@unionshelter.org when you are ready to book.
- $150 for breakfast
- $200 for lunch
- $250 for supper
- Serve a meal provided by the shelter.
- Maximum of 6 people, no minimum group size.
- Mondays-Fridays, Breakfasts & Lunches (No suppers or weekend meals). See a list of available meals Here and email Volunteer@unionshelter.org when you are ready to book.
