Community Service

To streamline your process, we recommend you start as soon as possible.

Have community service? Follow these steps:

1. Complete a Volunteer Application.
2. E-mail us at Volunteer@unionshelter.org for next steps. 

Individual/Family Volunteering

Ready to start volunteering as an individual or as a family? Follow these steps:

1. Complete a Volunteer Application for each person.
2. After completing your application(s), you will be able to schedule your Volunteer Orientation.
3. Once orientation is completed, you can start signing up for shifts.

Group Volunteering

Want to volunteer as a group?

We have several ongoing opportunities for groups to Provide, Sponsor, or Serve a Meal. You can find information and next steps for those below.

• Meal Provider
  • Provide and serve a meal in our feeding program
  • Minimum of 2 people, no maximum.
  • Click Here for more info, available meals, and to sign up.
  • Ready to book?
    1. Read over the Meal Provider Agreement.
    2. Pick an open meal on the calendar at the bottom of the page.
    3. Fill out a Meal Provider Request. YOUR DATE/MEAL IS NOT GUARANTEED AT THIS POINT. Staff will contact you within 3 business days to confirm your request.
• Meal Sponsor
  • Financially sponsor a meal and shelter staff will plan, purchase, and cook the meal. Your group will show up the day of to assist with meal preparation, serve, and clean up.
    • $200 for breakfast (7-9:30 am)
    • $250 for lunch (11 am-1:30 pm)
    • $300 for supper (5-7:30 pm)
  • Minimum of 2 people, maximum of 16 people
  • Ready to book?
    1. Pick an open meal on this Calendar.
    2. Go to the Meal Sponsorship page and click “SPONSOR” to pay. After paying, the website will have you complete a request form for the specific meal/date you are requesting. YOUR DATE/MEAL IS NOT GUARANTEED AT THIS POINT. Staff will contact you within 3 business days to confirm your request.
• Meal Server
  • Serve a meal provided by the shelter.
  • Minimum of 2 people, maximum of 8 people
  • Mondays-Fridays, Breakfasts & Lunches (No suppers or weekend meals). See a list of available meals Here
  • Ready to book?
    1. Fill out a Volunteer Application-Click Here, don’t schedule orientation unless you also want to volunteer individually
    2. Email Volunteer@unionshelter.org with the date/meal you are requesting
