Thank you for your desire to serve your community! Check below for information about individuals/families or groups interested in volunteering. Take a look at what we have and then follow the steps to get started. Any questions, email us at Volunteer@unionshelter.org

If you have court ordered community service, fill out a Registration and we will contact you to schedule your hours.

Individual and Family Volunteering

Process for New Individual and Family Volunteers

  1. Read the Volunteer Guidelines.
  2. Check out the Volunteer Job Descriptions to see what opportunities work for your skills and availability.
  3. Fill out a registration.
  4. Once you complete your registration, the orientation dates will be listed and you can go ahead and book an orientation, we do orientations three times a month. Everyone is required to bring a completed Release Form. Orientation is 1 hour long and  we will tour the shelter.
    •  All adults will need to attend orientation and bring a valid ID that is not expired and shows your name and birth date to orientation.
    • Children 16-17 years old volunteering solo will need to attend orientation. If they are volunteering with their parent/guardian, they do not need to attend orientation.
    • Children 10-15 years old are not required to attend orientation but are welcome to come!
  5. After you have completed orientation you can start scheduling volunteer shifts.

Group Volunteering

Take a look at the below opportunities, fill out a Group Volunteer Registration, a staff member will email you to discuss options. Groups do NOT need to attend orientation.
