Thank you for your desire to serve your community! Below we have information for individuals/families or groups interested in volunteering, click on which one pertains to you. Take a look at what we have and then fill out an application. If you are interested in providing a meal, click over to Soup Kitchen.

Individual and Family Volunteering
 

Process for New Volunteers

  1. Read over the Volunteer Guidelines and the below information about opportunities to see if this fits your schedule. Currently our opportunities are Monday-Friday during business hours.
  2. Fill out the Individual Volunteer Application.
  3. You will get an email from our staff once your application has been processed. From there you will schedule an orientation.
  4. Attend a one hour orientation and bring to orientation a completed Release Form and a valid ID that is not expired and shows your name and birth date.
  5. After you have completed orientation you can start scheduling volunteer shifts.

Group Volunteering
 

Group Opportunities

  • Serve in the community Soup Kitchen as a group, we provide the meal. This is for breakfast and lunch, Monday-Friday. Check out our Soup Kitchen-Group Volunteer Guidelines for more information
  • Sponsor a Home Again move for clients moving into independent housing.
  • Do a collections drive based off items on our Collection Needs.
  • Gather and put together Hygiene Kits.
  • Gather and put together Home Again Baskets.
  • Get involved in Amazing Grace through collecting food and/or volunteering the day of distribution.
  • Do a cleaning project at the Shelter.
  • Get involved in an event. We have amazing annual events including:
    • Souper Bowl of Caring (Going On Now! Contact Volunteer@unionshelter.org for more information)
    • Chuck Norwood Memorial Golf Tournament-April 18, 2018
    • Sweet Union Praise Jam-Spring 2018
    • Boot and Bowties-September 2018
    • Homeless Candlelight Vigil-November 2018
    • Pass the Plate-December 2018
